Yes, turkeys are still gobbling in middle Tn. and will continue to do so till the first or second week in June on average. You have to take into account you were hunting on a WMA. Those birds have dealt with serious hunter pressure for a good 6 weeks now. The gobblers that have survived have been well schooled by hunters, and certainly aren't going to be very vocal this late in the game. I've had hunts in past years that I got on some of the hardest gobbling birds of the season on the very last week. I didn't get to hunt much this last week due to family issues, but got some reports from buddies of some pretty good gobbling. One killed a pretty vocal bird yesterday morning. I got on a farm about 400 acres in size around 6 years ago on the very last week of the season. You would have thought it was mid April. There were multiple birds tearing it up, but it was the first time that farm had been hunted all year and it had very little pressure on the boarding properties.
