Most of the WMAs around me have closed and the few that are still open I have hunted and have not seen or heard anything.  This is the last weekend of the season, so I was thinking of going west to Fort Polk or Peason.  I've been reading about both and I think there are birds at both, but anyone have any experience you're willing to share? PM will work, too. Thank you!

Genesis 27:3 - Now then, get your weapons—your quiver and bow—and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.

I was stationed at ft polk for a bit and I can tell you peason ridge had more birds at that time. this was in the early 90s though. things change over the years as you well know. just get after them and good luck.

If you are thinking about this, also consider Clear Creek. Both Polk and Peason have a bunch of the area off-limits (or is subject to be)but Clear Creek is all open as far as I know. It's about 10 or 15 miles west of Leesvillle.

We had a job in that area several years ago and a store there had several turkeys mounted in that came from the WMA.

Try this link. If it will work, it lets you know what is open, closed, etc.
