I'm getting old. My brother is two years older than I am. We had a phone conversation the other day about our upcoming Kansas turkey trip this weekend. Neither of us are as pumped about the trip as we used to be. Don't get me wrong, we both still love turkey hunting and nothing is more satisfying than a successful trip. We both decided that we just aren't as mad at em as we used to be. We are both dreading the drive--SW Missouri for me and Southeast Louisiana for him. This will make the third state I have hunted this year---Same for him.
I have never paid someone to take me turkey hunting. We discussed the possibility of cutting back next year and just focusing on one really good trip and that we could probably do a guided hunt and come out money ahead compared to what we each spend going all over the country. We have both always wanted to do a New Mexico Merriams hunt--he has never killed a Merriam.
From what I have looked at, the prices seem to range from $1200 to $1600 for a three day 2 bird hunt.
Anyone out there have any suggestions/expereinces for a New Mexico guided hunt?
