Hello all. I have a question. I hunt our small 20ac property (have 20ac next to me to hunt also), the other morn I went in at day break knowing where I was gonna sit. Got in and started placing the decoys out then all heck broke loose. A big tom was roosted right above me about 20yds away and he saw me and flew to the next county. I sat a while and called, then went towards where he flew and called some, but nothing. have I ruined that spot for roosting? or will he or another likely come back? I guess I should have used a locator but they usually dont roost right there, sometimes near but not there. With my small property, my only real option is to sit and call, maybe move some and call. I have killed a few birds over the years, but the birds cooperated very well those days. Thanks.

1 time isn't going to make him change his roosting habits. Multiple times will. Be careful and good luck!!

They get spooked off the roost by other things making noise in the dark...

One rule I hold to is not to call from where I just busted him.  No sense teaching him your call.  I always move before I start calling.  I know that is hard on 20 acres.
