Good all around choke?

I would like to buy a extended choke for my 870 that would be a good general purpose choke, for buckshot, steel shot, and game loads. I know this May be a longshot, but I'd like some suggestions on what to pick out, probably somewhere around .710. I have the factory full choke, but it doesn't shoot well with buckshot, and I really like extended chokes, cause I don't need a tool to remove it.

I would go with a modified choke. I'm not sure how good buckshot would pattern through it but it is great for game loads and steel. A modified will pattern like a full with steel.

We run a HM or LF.  I keep the HM in my gun year around unless turkey hunt or target shoot.   :z-twocents:

I have a improved modified that's close to .710. Carlson's extended. Good choke for the money.

I use Light Mod in my guns for everything but skeet and turkeys.

the factory full has always been a good all round choke for all of my shotguns
it's not the harvest,it's the chase

That's about what I'm looking for, thanks for the advice and the link, that's a good price!

I shoot a briley light mod in my benelli from opening day of dove season up until the end of goose season. Not sure how it would do with buckshot, but with lead game loads and steel waterfowl loads it patterns great.

I recommend 3 carlsons chokes from their website... My benelli has a light modified in it for everything until late goose then it gets an improved modified... The dead coyote tube is listed to shoot everything and is a good turkey choke as well. I would email Scott Carlson and ask him he is great and very quick to reply. I don't think there is one do it all tube as I want to have the best tube in my gun for each situation.

LM for doves ducks rabbits
IM for late geese
Patternmaster for buckshot coyotes
Jellyhead for spring gobbler

I understand that one choke will not do everything, just looking for a more open extended choke that will shoot well with various sizes of buckshot, mainly #1, and still pattern good for small game, and be able to handle steel loads. I'll Probably chose a LM,or IM. I was looking at the carlson's coyote tube, but it's not recommended for steel shot.

If I had to shoot one and buckshot was a goal I would look into the patternmaster. It does awesome with federal buckshot and Kent steel loads. I have the extended range and it is .710. The only mistake I made was getting it ported as it deafens everyone else in the blind when I shoot.

With federal #4 buck it patterns great to 45-50 yards on coyotes. With steel the Kent patterns were great as well as federal blue box the only thing is you can't shoot black cloud or federal heavyweight out of it. It is also decent for turkeys with a killing pattern to 40 with hevi 13 #6. I still wouldn't be afraid to email Scott as he will get back to you within the day.
