Anyone shot Fed HW 7's or Hevi Shot through this choke? It says lead only but it is made out of stainless steel. Any thoughts?

Tom Foolery

I've shot h13 through them with no bad results.  I think lots use them in the 20's with great results.

That's the kind of hunting pattern I am looking for..my family and friends shoot this gun some when they go with me to the the turkey woods. An 8" inch pattern at 30 and a 9" pattern at 40yds would not shake out too well. Be a turkey flying off with that tight a pattern. Plus I like a little more open pattern for turkey hunting. Thanks, I will run the Fed HW 7's and see what she looks like. The LB 3" 5's had a  good hunting pattern out of this set up so far. 115-120 in a 10" @ 40. Thanks guys I will let the Fed HW 7's rip and see what it does.

Wide open pattern at 30 yds..back to the drawing board.

super full may be the one. Extra full pretty open.  super full knurled on end, extra is  smooth.
Never seen an Extra full 20 gauge choke from Remington?

This new barrel from Remington 21" is the most difficult one I've worked on.

Rem 870 21" bbl/ Kicks .655

*Not able to break 100 @ 40 with any Win 6" lead shells

*Not able to break 50 @ 40 with any Win 5's lead shells

*Awesome Win LB 5's and 6's patterns at 30-40yds. (Softball size at 20-25). Point of aim going left and right at 20 yds off a rest with an Aimpoint. Not good in a hunting situation.

*just ordered a Hevi 13 Turkey Choke .662. Going Hevi and see if I can get a good hunting pattern at 30yds and 40yds.

*Thanks, I will keep you posted on results. Tried Ventilator, Kicks .655, Rem Xtra full.

Just goes to show they are all different. I have another 21"bbl that will shoot all the Win Pb 6's well at 40 yds and consistent patterns with Win LB 6's. Biggest difference I can see is the old Wingmaster barrel I had cut off and put tru-choke threads in looks like it's smooth as glass. The new remington barrel..not so much. I have another 26" bbl that's a new remington barrel and after extensive polishing it's not even close to my old 21" and 28" Wingmaster barrels in terms of finish.

The Hevi-Shot .662 choke throws an awesome 40 yard pattern from my 21" Remington barrels shooting the 3" Hevi-Shot 2 ounce #6's.  160+ pellets in the 10" circle.

FYI on the Remington Turkey chokes. Their Extra Full is .687" construction (perfect for 20-30 yard shot). Remington's Super Full choke is .665" construction, a lot tighter and great at 40 yards, but at 20 yards you better be on them! Most of my shots are close so I like the Extra Full for my hunting purposes. Its rare that I have to shoot longer than 30 yds I guess. My dad bought the Remington Super Full (from walmart) and gets great results at 40-50 with his 870. hope this helps.

Thanks, the only patterns I was able to turn with the extra full that would have a good hunting pattern at 30,40 was with the Win LB 5's. The inside 20 was super tight and I shoot allot of turkey's at that range. I found a good pattern with Kicks .655 and HV 3" 5's but the max yd would be around 35yds. Shot some awesome 30,40 patterns with Kicks .655/ Win LB 5's but the inside 25 was the size of a softball. I'm hoping with Hevi .662/ Hevi 6's,7's.. I can get a good 20,30,40 without being overly tight up close and confident at 40 even misjudging yd a bit.
