I took a half day off so I could go shooting, cause it's been raining like crazy here!  Well I had some #6 Lb's I wanted to try in my 870sp with my new Sumtoy .665 choke, and my truglo strutt stopper .665, the conditions were a little windy, but they put up some good numbers.
With the truglo I got 213 in 10" at 40yds.
With the Sumtoy I got 184 in the 10" at 40yds.
I'm kinda thinking the Sumtoy just needs to be broke in, and it will put up better numbers. I even tried the LB #5's, and got 144 in 10" at 40yds. There was a bunch of folks there so I didn't get to try the #4's, but I will try them this weekend. I can say that the Sumtoy choke patterns were to the left 5" and dead center, so that proves that different chokes have different POI. The funny thing about the today is I took my 20ga 870 express also to try the #6 fed HW's, and I tried them 40yds. And got 72 in 10"! I was looking at the target, and thinking man that should have been better, and it probably would have been better if I had installed a choke! See it wouldn't fit in the gun case with the choke in, so I remove it and left it at home, nobody's ever done that right! Im going to retry those this weekend also.

Hope those threads are ok after shooting with no choke in.

They should be, I only shot it once like that. As soon as I get home I put the choke back in! I felt like a goober, oh well everybody makes mistakes.

Phire Phite

Indeed, and hey, 72 in the 10 with no choke is a good sign.

I'm going to go back and buy another box, cause I want to try them through the full choke. The funny thing is the wad went though the pattern board at 40yd without the choke!

My sweetheart of a wife called me today and said she was going by basspro shop, and asked what I wanted for my anniversary present! So i told her that my camo was getting long in the tooth, so she picked up a shirt and pants of mossy oak obsession. I had been looking at the MO green leaf pattern that they reintroduced this year, but these look a lot better, and she also picked up two boxes of fed HW #7 20's! Man, do I love her!

yup clean the oil out the choke with something.  We ship them with oil on them.  I would think you should see 200 plus.  That what we have seen.  The 665 and 650 seems to shoot about the same just the 20 yard stuff.

Had HV13 7s 3 inch go 253 other day.  I think it was one of them odd deals.  We have been seeing 230.  I think they changed the 7s for the good.
Tell us just how dead do you want them to be and we will see if we can get that for you.

I started off with a clean oil free barrel, I also cleaned both chokes with carb cleaner. I think it just needs some more break in time. I think I'll run 25 more rounds of bird shot though it.
