Just picked up my new 12ga 870 SPS Super Mag 23'' barrel this week. Can anyone put me in the right direction with what choke and loads work well with this setup? Thanks for any info.Mike

Bama turkey hunter

I shoot a 870 sm and have tried different chokes but a rhino 660 puts up the best pattern for me. It's puts up a nice even pattern with hevi shot #7's

Gobble!

Patterns were on a cold day so they will be much better in warmer weather. The guys at Indian Creek have been very good me to and their chokes do well with any shell I have shot. When it comes to factory loads get some of the Hevi Shot 3.5" #7s or of you want to save a few bucks get the Winchester Long Beard 3.5" #6s. I'm going to shoot some of them next week for kicks.

Hey Mike,

I shoot a bunch of Remington shotguns, including several 870s of various barrel lengths. I recommend the SSX and either 3" Hevi-13s with #6 or #7 shot or 3" WLB shells with #6 shot. I've shot hundreds of the Hevi-13 and now several hundred rounds of the WLB shells and either combination will get you all that you need to kill any turkey at any ethical range, and it won't break the bank.

Thanks,
Clark.

I shoot an 870 and my best pattern to date has been with  .655 Jebs.  226 with Win Longbeard #6 in the 10" at 40 from the muzzle at 58 degrees. No its not a cheap choke but they stand behind what they sell.

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

MACHINIST

I have the same gun and shoot a sumtoy 665 with #6 longbeards.Does awesome,I also tried the jelly head and he I blends. They didn't do as good as the sum toy and Longboards but weren't very far off.

JellyHead .660.....great value and has always proved to be a winner in the 870

It was over 300 with a 26" barrel

Jellyhead 660.  I have the same gun and this is what I get with 3.5" magblends.

Been through more chokes than I care to think about and have had 5 or six 870's over the years.  In each gun a kicks
.655 has given me the best patterns.

I use the Ventilator choke tube with the Federal Turkey Thug size 6, 3.5in mags and haven't had a bird hardly flop when shot in the last 2 seasons since I started using this combo..

Clark (allaboutshooting) set me up with SSX a couple years ago for my 870, all I can say is he was right.  I love the #6 LB and the magnum blends with this set-up.
