Hey guys I'm putting this gun together for my girlfriend this year for her first turkey season. Here's what I have
Remington 1100 LT-20 youth 21"bbl 2 3/4" only
Tru Lock EF .585 choke
Federal 2 3/4" #7 HW 1 1/8 oz

My question is will this be enough choke if that gobbler gets hung up between 30-40 yards? Accuracy with her isn't a problem as she's probably a better shot than I am!

I know the way to figure it out is to get out and shoot but it's below 0 here with wind chill and let alone another choke will probably only cost a few more bucks than a box of these shells. Thanks in advance!

The shot has enough FP of energy to do the deed at 40 yards. You will need to pattern the combination to see how far out the pattern holds until it gets below 100 pellets in a 10" diameter circle. Once that is determined, make that her outer limit of the Red Zone.

I will be real surprised if that does not work.  FWIW, my daughter's 870 youth with 3" HW #7 is perfect at 30 and spotty at 40 with just a Remington Full choke (she is a new shooter, so I don't want it real tight). I am going to limit her to 30 yards.   I have a Trulock Fed HW choke I am gonna shoot in it this weekend (Florida here) to see how it looks at 40 (that is so I can use it too).

Thanks for the confidence in what I've got

if you can find one a Carlson .575 works wonders with the federal 7's and doesn't cost an arm and a leg
it's not the harvest,it's the chase

Those shells will kill one good enough.  My son has killed quite a few with an LT 20 and 2 3/4 inch shells.  I killed one in January with it in Kansas. :z-twocents:

Those loads are definite killers out to about 35 yards.  The turkey in my avatar was shot with that load and an SSX .550 (my daughters first turkey)

Here's that load through a Rem SF .570 at 30 yards.
