thinking of shooting mag blends this year what choke works best?

SKFOOTER

Depending on your barrel length, I'd suggest a JellyHead .660 or .665 and also the Hevi Shot .662 choke.

Out of 26" Hevi 662 did 175 with the magblend 2012 shells 3".
Out of 21" Hevi 662 did 190 with fed HW 7's, 3" bought this year. I have not shot magblends in the 21".

So far the Hevi choke has been a great performer with most loads, followed by the Carlsons .660

Hoot, how did the wad look after shooting the HW 7's thru the Hevi Shot .662 choke??? And is 190 in the 10" circle @ 40 yards consistent???

owlhoot

Out of the 21" barrel last week, 3 shots out of 2 different boxes bought last week, 190 was the mid, 177 low and couldn't break the 200 at 193 only.
sorry have not checked wads since last year, spaced it. wad did almost go to target.
10" circle 40 yards taped and lazered.  55 degrees.

26" last years load 140-150's with hevi .662, carlsons .660 and carlsons .640. did not matter.

This 21" barrel shines , early 90's gun. 26" is 2011-13 gun barrel rough even after polishing could still see the tool marks.

Thanks!  I have 2 of the 90's model Special Purpose 1187's with 21" barrels and I've been wanting to set one of them up for Federal Heavyweight 7's,  I was leary about shooting that load thru the Hevi Shot .662 choke due to the rings inside as well as the ports since that 12 gauge wad is so stiff.  But now I'm gonna hafta try it since you are getting those kind of 40 yard numbers.

AA shooting says to defeat the wad . Flight out of control wad that is.

Can't complain about the patterns my Indian Creek has thrown. 190s with the Hevi 6s. 320s with the Hevi 7s and 280s with nitro 7s on a cold day.

pattern master with winchester longbeards is down right nasty on my setup.

JH 660 is mean in my 26" gun. I have sense switched over to Longbeards and the Sumtoy or SSX, both are beasts with the longbeards shell.

When Rob Roberts did my patterning his 670 was the most even with both mag blends and h-13 #6. I had an Indian creek .665 first and it was tight but left a few holes in the pattern. The 670 was a lot more even pattern. I've had my forcing cone lengthened as well.
