Last year I bought a older 835 ulti mag with a 24in barrel. I have 2 870s that I have setup for turkey's, but With all the hype I've been hearing about how they pattern I picked it up. My question is what choke/shell combo is everyone getting good results with?I have a good bit of HW #7s, and LB #6 in 3in that I use for my 870.

Congratulations. The 835s pattern very well. The chokes that I see do the best with them are the Hevi-Shot and the SSX. The WLB shells will do well through both chokes and the HW 7s will do best through the SSX, in my experience. It is important to "deep clean" that 835 bore to maximize it's performance.

Thanks,
Clark

Get you something around 675 for the guns.  They like the Win XR in the 5's or HV13 Mags/7's.

SumToy,  PG or Star Dot should fix you up.
Tell us just how dead do you want them to be and we will see if we can get that for you.

I shoot a 835 and with my factory non ported ulti full and winchester longbeard 6 shot I get around 185 in the 10 @ 40, so try your factory tube out it should have came with one, being a 24" bbl, it is a turkey model, but if you go with aftermarket, I second the ssx I have one and it's bad to the bone

Thanks for all the info. The gun being used did not have the factory choke.

I got a .680 kicks gobbling thunder in mine. I shoot 3 1/2 winchester supremes in #5 and #6. Both shells shoot wickedly good out of it. I tried the factory choke but the kicks outshoots it all day long.

With typical loads a premium aftermarket choke (Star Dot, Indian Creek, Pure Gold, Sumtoy, SSX) gives you better performance.  But long beard XR loads are so tight out to 40 yards, the standard Mossberg Ultifull choke may be a better option.  It all depends on how far you plan on shooting at your target.  Shoot at a turkey around 20 yards with a Indian Creek choke and Longbeard XR shells, and you stand a good chance of missing because the pattern is too tight that close.  Do some research on the pattern forum and you'll find volumes of good advice about the 835/935.  Just remember that a super tight pattern isn't always best, there are other factors to consider.  You can buy a used factory ultifull Mossberg choke all day long on ebay for 10-15 bucks.

I think I've shot every load/choke combo there is in my 835.
That being said, I believe the Kicks .680 is the most versatile choke I've tried.
Shoots everything well, it seems

I use a hevi 13 choke and hevi-shot mag blend and at 20 yds put a hole in paper big enough o put my hand through and not touch paper. also have a red dot scope on it

With those shells I would go with 670 pure gold!! Deep clean that barrel and not look back  :OGturkeyhead:

I shoot the Hevi 7's in my 835 with the .670 Pure Gold choke with great results.  As others have said, the 835 patterns really well with chokes in the .675 range.  The SSX, Indian Creek, Stardot, Sumtoy and Pure Gold are some that have been tested and are excellent.  By the way, I killed a Merriam in South Dakota at 38 laser yards last May and he never moved when I pulled the trigger with the 3 1/2" Hevi 7's.  Good Luck with whatever you decide on, you have plenty to choose from and experiment with.

Mine prefers the SSX and #5 or #6 Longbeards, The its a toss up between the PG .670 and Star Dot

I got my SSX from Clarke last year and it patterns the LB shells great.
