I started out hunting WMA's in FLA, which means finding a likely spot and setting for a while. Those pressured public Osceolas don't gobble as much once the crowds hit the woods, and there are Walking Wally's everywhere.
Over the years I've upgraded my decoys, and my hunting areas. I went from the old hard shelled Flambeau's, to the fold up foam ones, and finally the last few years have been using the Cherokee Sports inflatables with the A-Way Turkey Skinz over them. Those dekes with the skinz are incredible looking, and many a gobbler has been fooled by their realism.
But the skinz aren't very durable, and stray pellets do a number on the inflatables. So this year, I'm
finally taking the plunge and getting a couple of DSD's to go along with my Primos B-Mobile with a real fan. I'm getting the DSD feeding hen and upright hen. I'm already used to toting around B-Mobile and the inflated inflatables in the early season, so non-collapsing DSD's won't be a big deal for me.
I'm excited to try the DSD's out!!
For me, when using decoys, it's all about realism, and DSD's look a lot better than anything else, even the Avians.
