Oh yeah, I remember the thickets.  :TooFunny:  Even crawling through the multi floral rose.  Maybe with all the timbering and drilling for the oil shale we'll get some thickets back and some grouse.  I'd love to hunt them some more while I still can run these hills.
No trees were hurt in the sending of this message, however a large number of electrons were highly inconvenienced.

Awesome.   These bring back great memories.  I grew up hunting grouse in the Berkshires. They are so amazingly fast off the ground.  I've had a grouse launch at my feet in a thicket, saw the leaves stirred from its wings, and never saw the bird.  When I moved out west, my shooting was a mess and I had to work real hard to slow down.  Grouse hunting and quick access to flyfishing are two of the things I miss most from back home.  Thanks!

great pictures thanks for sharing.  What shotgun do you use gauge/load/chokes?  I love hunting over dogs especially in that tight cover, you need to learn to shoot around and through those tree's, I like using a 28g Beretta O/U with Briley skeet and improved chokes.

Thank you slamman!  I use an A5 Light 12 and 20....its what I've been using since I was a kid and love them!!!!!  I have owned many throughout my days of grouse hunting.   My current 12 has a skeet choke and my 20 has an improved.  I use Remington Long Range Express shells....I've been using them for many years now and really like them.  I have also used 7 1/2 shot for the past few years and will be going back to 6 shot again I believe.  Is that you short hair in the picture?  Great picture by the way!!!!

God Bless

yes that is my shorthair hunting Mearns quail in southern Arizona (Gould's turkey country).  Mearns are very tight holding quail.
