Last day here in Maine. Had a hot bird all week, 1st spot nothing, and so on. We finally strike a bird and he flies down at 0615, daylight was at 0445, and crosses the back road we came in on. My buddy has worked this bird before, never flew down in that direction. We finally get in the right set up and he hangs up, a coyote ran through the field where he was. We tried another spot, nothing. We drove past the field where he was and he is back, gobbling on his own. No hens. We set up a little differently and he gets hot. Starts in and hangs up. I am tagged out so I do not have a gun. We let him start to go away and we split up, Joe sneaks a little closer and I get a little farther away. I call and he starts to come. He walks right past me at 20 yards and is headed to Joe. I am waiting for the , "Bang". It never comes and he slides off. I wait a bit and Joe whistles to me. I go over to him and he is shaking his head and laughing. He shows me where the bird came at 25 yards and stopped on the other side of the stone wall, right under the new 'POSTED " sign at the corner of the property we have permission to hunt. I hope it was just luck because if they learn to read, we are in for a rough time of it. Good Luck to everyone and God Bless

Pretty much. Definitely don't follow our scripts most of the time....

If you expect the unexpected doesn't that make it the expected?  ;D
I love golf.  It keeps a lot of people out of the turkey woods.

it's one of the things that I love about turkey hunting,no 2 hunts,no 2 days are ever going to be the same, you never know what's coming.
it's not the harvest,it's the chase
