Started the season over spring break in Mississippi and the first 4 weeks of my season were not so kind to me. I screwed up more birds than I care to admit, either trying to help my buddy kill one or just stupid mistakes on my part in general. Hunted two different states without knocking one down but when the Arkansas season opened birds started to flop. Dad and I both killed our birds by the end of the second weekend.

Never managed to get my buddy on a bird during those early weeks but when I came back to Arkansas for the youth hunt he killed a really unique 2 year old. Would have been a stud in a year or two!

Took a day or two off after killing our birds and played some golf and caught some crappie before we started packing for a annual trip out west.

My brother and I both had finals so we didn't get to leave as early as my dad, he capitalized on the head start and had two birds down before we arrived.

We had a great first day together and killed 4 birds by 4:00.

The rest of the trip was rainy and 30-40mph winds. The tent held strong and we kept hunting. It never repeated that first day but we still managed to pick up 3 more birds and had several opportunities at some others.

Had another great season, hate to see it end but the sleep hasn't been so bad either. Ten more months and we can do it all again and it can't get here fast enough.

"around here, turkey hunting is more like a religion than a pastime.getting close to nature, getting back to where we most belong is something we hold sacred.when we do get to take one home, we do so with reverence"

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.
