Now that season is over for us in Fl. It's time to start fishing. I just found out that our federal government has cut out red snapper season to 11 days, needless to say I'm not happy. Feds say these red snapper are over fished in the Gulf of Mexico. I say the Feds must not fish! These pics are from different trips this year and I can post more just like them.

Overfished...pa..leeeze!

Our season was only 40 something days last year and most of those we're not fishing days due to weather and sea conditions.
Feds also cut our limit to 2 per person down from 4 per person about 4yrs ago, that is why these snapper are getting so big.
Feds are cutting grouper limits as well as other fish to, add the fact that gas is $4 a gallon not many people are fishing anymore.

We're the government...we're here to help you.

The days in state waters were increased so the Feds took it upon theirselves to compensate that by dropping the days in federal waters witch is total B.S.! Theses snapper are not over fished at all, anyone that snapper fishes,or fishes in the gulf at all know this. Many days we limit the boat on the first drop of the day and spend the rest of the time trying to catch a grouper and still catch snapper like they are going out of style. It is just another way for the government to have their hand in something they know nothing about.

That's the government for you, once again proving that they know nothing about anything.
it's not the harvest,it's the chase

What takes a few hundred dollars to charter a boat, and fifteen minutes or less to catch your limit?

Red Snapper fishing of course! If you bring one up under 10 pounds just flip it off and watch the porpoise eat your fish. Makes no sense at all and this isn't the end of things by a long shot.

Think how many days the Charter Boats have to fish and how much it takes to keep up a boat. They'll get it to where snapper , grouper, amberjack, and king mackerel will have different seasons to "protect" the possible over- harvest of fish. Netters and long liners have a much higher quota than sport fishermen.

GO FIGURE.
