Gobblers and Temporary Ground Blinds

Hello Guys and Gals, I am new to the forum and have a question.  I am thinking of using a ground blind for hunting spring turkeys.  I would use it on public land where it could not be left permanently but would need to be removed daily.  Would turkeys avoid coming close to this new object in their environment ie. the blind or not be alarmed by it?  I am interested in responses sharing their experience with similar set-up.  Thank You and good luck.  Laststrut

They are great for what you want. Gobblers are not like deer, so you can even put them in the middle of a field and they don't spook the roosters. I saw a video a long time ago where a guy used an orange safety blind that he "found" and had turkeys all around him. He was just trying to prove a point with a camo argument. Basically tho, the blind all but eliminates the hunter from getting busted because of his movement. They are great for beginners and when it rains! Just remember not to move much and keep quiet when ya do! Good hunting this season!

Set it up and hunt!! Of all the things turkeys seemed to be scared of,including their own shadows at times,blinds arent one of them.I dont know what it is but they act like the blinds arent even there.

For what ever reason they are like 99% not scared of blinds.

Nuther vote for blinds. Had a hen 3 feet from my blind.10 mins later a big gobbler popped out.Same place.He went home with me.

I use them when tain is forecasted and have had no issues !!! Birds don't mind at all !.

Question for you guys, I just put up a blind for NY youth hunt.  There is shoot thru mesh that you can leave up or take down.  I removed the front area for now.  Should I leave it off or put it back on.  Thx.

Shoot thru mesh is for archery ONLY!!!! a gunshot will more than likely start a fire...

Interesting.  It never specified what type of shooting.  Also, do u guys try to get the barrel out the window for a shot or is it OK to shoot from inside?

They cannot see you in the blind so lower the mesh (which is archery only) and lastly I would put that muzzle just outside the blind for the shot.

Definately put the muzzle outside the blind!!  We were hunting out of my darkhorse and In an extremely intense moment my wife shot at a deer with my 243 during deer season and forgot to put the muzzle outside the blind and when she pulled the trigger, holy cow!!! That's a different kind of loud. Turkeys aren't afraid of the blinds at all, I had a hen inches outside the blind before and she actually looked inside. It was pretty cool!!

no issue with the blind, as long as it is not shiny and flapping in the wind! Last several birds I have killed there was zero cover within 100 yards of my blind.

Here is me in my Primos Double Bull this past Saturday.  I carried the decoys (4 of them), the blind, my blind chair, and my gun all in one trip.  I knew where I wanted to be based on my prior trip to this property.  I set it all up at around 5:30 AM and by 6:40ish it was all over and my day was done.

He could have cared less about the blind and was only interested in beating up the DSD jake. 

You will also see that, despite being in the back corner of the blind, that I made sure I slid the muzzle outside of the blind.
