What happened for you fellows hunting in GA this weekend? Good? Bad?

Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.

The hunting wasn't good but had a great time!
First of all the farmer leasing the land we are hunting is having major hog problems. He has been night hunting or playing a radio to keep the hogs away from corn he just planted with limited success. I was surprised that the woods hadn't greened up yet around Unadilla. With my green camo I stood out as much as if I had on a pink tutu. I got to see some friends I haven't seen in a while and had a great time hanging out. Just didn't bring home a score. Here's briefly how it went. Saturday morning no gobbles so we set up and called a few spots no luck. Sunday morning we got on a gobbler but couldn't get him to come. Monday no gobbling but we set up and called in a long beard and hens to about a 80 yards, but they hung up and fed away from us. Monday was cold and windy, sweat shirt weather. I will go back in a couple of weeks before the season starts here in NC and try again.

My friends son, home from the Air Force/college for the week, killed a big gobbler on our property Saturday afternoon. He was hunting a blind on the dove field and the turkey came in silently and he bagged it.

I hunted today and it was dead. 34 degrees this morning and it was silent. I sat in a blind on a food plot, creek to my left, hardwood ridge to the right and a big swamp behind me. My friend sat in the blind where his son killed the bird and we heard and saw nothing.

I sat in the blind until 10:30 and then walked along the creek and set up and called three different locations until about 1:30. The wind really started gusting and I called it quits.

Proof I really was there:

Been awfully quiet for me. I have not heard a gobble so far this season, nor have I seen a turkey.

Two big gobblers were seen at 10:30 one morning up along the pasture and I hunted in that area the next day and it was dead.

Wednesday my friend ran to the property to pick up a piece of equipment and at 9:00 a turkey was gobbling like crazy. He could not hunt and called me but I am an hours drive away. I asked him to pen it up in the garden for me but he just laughed.

I will get after them maybe Tuesday depending on what the rain storm does.
