I finally found a 870 sps turkey gun today and order it.  I am going with a Indian creek black diamond choke and gonna try hevi 13 2.25oz #6 . What other shells would y'all recommend to try.

I am willing to bet that shell/choke combo will do just fine. I run that combo in one of my 3" guns, in my 11-87 SSM I have one of George Truelocks chokes built for the Federal Heviweight #7.

It puts up good numbers and hits like a freight train...

I had the same gun... Jelly Head chokes (either one) seemed to be best bang for buck.  IC, HEVI choke, Wrights, etc...  they were all about the same.  The one I liked the most was the Wrights #1 choke.. seemed to be best all around.

My only recommendation.. shoot HEVI #7.   you really can't go "wrong" with chokes in that gun it seems.  Even the factory turkey choke it comes with isn't bad.

I have the same setup, but mine doesn't like the 6's that well.  Mag blend for me has been the best thus far.

I shoot nitros out of mine. Mega weights and hevi both. Indian creek 665. Bad news for birds.

When I my 870 it came with a Rem super full choke, when you get your gun, pull your choke out and look on the side of it.  If it says Rem super full it is a .665 choke.  What size choke is your indian creek choke?

Jellyhead 660 and 3.5" magblends fan here in mine.

here is that gun with HEVI 3.5, #7 and a JH choke.

Gobble!

I have a 870SM Max Gobbler. I use a .665 Indian Creek with 3.5" 2.25oz H13 #7s. Best pattern to date is 324 in a 10 circle at 40 yards. I have been very impressed with this combination but due to the inconsistancy in the H13 shells I will be shooting Nitro shells this year. There have also been threads lately about issues with Indian Creeks older chokes. Make sure the one you get is their newer SS model. Good people at Indian Creek and they have treated me well and I fully support them .
