Who uses a Gobbler call?

I use it only as a last resort, but it does work. If I try a turkey for a few days and can't get him to come to anything else then I say what the hay and gobble at him. It will work. I use whatever I'm calling on. If I'm calling on a box call I use that. That way I can yelp, the cutt and then gobble at the cutt. It will make those jokers go crazy sometimes. Sometimes it will make him clam up for a few days. I had a Ben Lee record and he said he would crow and then gobble at it. Said he had been shot before. Not sure if that is true. I have heard Preston Pitman tell a similar story. I'm sure it could happen.

I got on youtube today & found some mouth call tutorials on how to do a pretty good Gobble call. Sounds pretty good after only a half hour of practice. Little spitty at first! But I got that all calmed down and in order!
I am going to bag my first Turkey this spring if it is the last thing I do!

Carry a tube that I can gobble on.Sounds a little more jakey than gobbler, but have used it on rare occasions and it sealed the deal.

Nice bird; congrats!  In the "right" situation, a gobble call works *great*!

Gobblers have 2 emotions in spring. Horny and jealous.
If he don't want some love, he might want a fight.
Always carry gobbler shaker call with me.

As a last resort I will gobble. I can gobble well with a mouth call so I will work a few in if the bird hangs up and nothing else seems to work and getting impatient. I have had some success, but rarely use it. Nice tool to have available if needed.

My first bird fell to a gobble call. Set up on a field edge 20 mins before the rain moved in. When the rain came, the birds hit the field, but no where near me. They did not respond to some soft yelps, and they were moving away. In desperation, I tried a gobble on a mouth call. All three stopped and turned and headed in my direction. At 35 yards he went down.

I have a Knight and Hale call, a Hale Fire, but I'm not happy with the way I work it. Cannot get the rhythm down. But the mouth call works well. Move it as far back as you can tolerate and breathe "chicka, chicka, chockaw" and you will be surprised at the results.

I will always keep the gobble call in the arsenal.
