I dug this up a few weeks ago and have been letting it dry in the shop after washing the mud off of it, and today cut some up to see if it would make a few calls. I have used a lot of the tops of post but never what was in the ground, hope it works will know in a day or two. I know it has been in the ground for about 40 years or more, My dad or the old man next door put it in the ground and i dug it up.
question would it be anything like what i hear people say is mud cured? what is mud cured?

Nice wood should make for some nice calls

for mud cured I believe what it means is when wood is in wet ground and the wood suks up all the minerals from the dirt and the wetter the ground the more the wood will change colors or its called mineral stained wood    I snapped a pic of wood here osage plain and mud cured and maple same thing

Not taking orders for calls at this time ,,,but my have some on hand  ,,,I Dont sell strikers

A quality paddle caller will most run itself.  It just needs someone to carry it around the woods. Yoder409

Osage will do that if it's in the ground or not? Osage turns dark after a while.
