Bansner TG151 Strut Stopper Choke

I just picked up a Truglo Mark Bansner TG151 for 835/935 because I just couldn't resist trying it and they're so hard to find.  I've read a lot of the threads talking about this choke and some people love it but some claim it's nothing special.  Anyone have any insight on shooting this choke out of a 835 or 935?

Mark Bansner was one of the premier choke designers and his chokes for Truglo were the culmination of his choke design career. He's out of the choke tube business but makes some of the finest custom rifles on the market today.

I have one of each of the chokes that he designed for Truglo and even with modern shotshells that were not in existence when designed his chokes, they work very well. It's all about the internal geometry of the choke.

Lastly, they are very hard to find today and few if any shooters that I know will part with one or if they do, it will command a very premium price.

I'd recommend that you "deep clean" your 835/935 and the choke tube before taking it to the range. I'd encourage you to try some 3" Hevi-13 shells with 2 oz. of #6 shot. I think you'll be pleased with the results.

I don't know who posted that, but I'll chime in. 

Clark and his wife are both former NWTF World Still Target Championship Winners, and they compete at a very high level year after year.  The dominant shell used for several years now in all of the 12 Gauge Divisions has been the 3" 2oz. #6 Hevi13 shell that he always recommends.  He has shot thousands of those shells.  It's a darn good shell.  #7's will almost always put up bigger numbers, but some people still like using #6's.  It's not a bad recommendation at all.  Plus, deep cleaning works.  Cleaning works period.

I admit that at first, I too took notice of the same recommendations in all of his posts.  But the information is accurate and helpful.  I then realized that we all tout our favorite stuff pretty often.  Ex: How many times have I said something positive about Indian Creek chokes?

Thank you all for the kind words. My goal is to be helpful. That's the reason I started my site some 20+ years ago and one reason that I spend so much time at OG.

The other reason is that I enjoy the company here. I feel that so many of you have become friends over the years.

OG has so many folks who obviously want to help each other, are willing to give advice and who are willing to share their experiences with others. This is a good place!

I try to look at every post or inquiry on my site in the same way that I look at as a  challenge with my guns. The first thing and sometimes all that's really needed to produce a good pattern, is a good cleaning. It's the single most effective and least expensive remedy that I've discovered.

What year did he stop designing for truglo? I have a truglo that puts up excellent numbers.

As for the banser choke. I happen to be a bit of a choke junkie
with dozens and dozens of them. I have chokes for guns I don't even own."yet" 'lol
anyway the turkey gun I choose to carry the most is my Winchester 1300
Turkey with a 22" barrel and advantage camo. Anyway my mark banser truglo is my favorite choke.
and that not just in that gun. I shoot it in many of the turkey guns I own
and now I just gave one of my banser to my dad for his investor plus.
seems to shoot equally well out of his gun.
