Just saw Winchester and Drury Brothers Natural Born. They seemed impressed with these new loads.

R AJ

Did you see the billow of smoke, ie.resin boil out with the shot? Hmm.

hotrod3h

I wouldn't be too impressed with anything the drurys endorse. Remember these are the guys that pushed the dead silience call. Blow it and you got silence all right.

longbeards

I remember the dog whisle!! That Durry sold for a year or so...I blew it at a gobbling bird a few weeks before season, he was at 60 yards and he didn't even seem to hear it!

In defense of the New Winchester Longbeards,,,just got in off the range and am going to post the targets I shot today......I believe it is going to be the real deal.. check out the post I will be putting up in the next hour or so on Old Gobbler Turkey Gun Patterns.

I don't care much for the Drurys anymore I think they would endorse just about anybody that would sponsor them I really hate the way  they advertise Rage Broadheads by saying "Rage Broadheads have literally changed the way we hunt" Whats that supposed to mean you can now shoot a deer in the guts on purpose? I think rage are good broadheads Im just not sure how they could change the way you hunt. as for the new Winchester shells I'd like to give them a try I aint gonna try to shoot a turkey with them at 66yds like they advertise though
I eat therefore I hunt

Ruger M77,
I saw that same ad about shooting a turkey at 66 yards with the new Winchester loads.  That's not a good message to send to hunters who are just getting into turkey hunting.  I think a lot of turkeys will be getting crippled if people pull the trigger at those crazy distances.

I agree wholeheartedly.

Those of us who have hunted for a while need to be a good example to newer hunters and be responsible in not only our shots but what we post on forums like OG and others.

That includes not only our statements but in the patterns that we post or discuss.

OG has had a policy for a long time about 40 yard shots being the maximum as has the NWTF.

It's called turkey hunting and not turkey killing for a reason.

Thanks,
Clark

I couldn't agree more Clark..

Tall claims by businessmen are exactly that " claims"  some of the marketing is reminiscent of snake oil advertising , I won't mention the persons by name but it's a business and they get paid plenty of money to promote in that style and manner - This is not the first time a ammo company has been over the top with the snake oil claims to get product moving onto retailers shelves

I have some serious reservations with and businessman or company making what is obviously way exaggerated  claims on the performance of lead at 66 yards? Obviously there is a disconnect to reality up there in that company to make that kind of claim with lead - they are out of touch that's for sure , the sad reality is that some fool(s) are going to run up to the bps get some of these , plug them into their gun and light one off at a limited natural resource ( wild turkey) and cripple or injure this magnificent game animal - I think the whole thing is a disgrace to the sport as a whole

I have watched forums for a long long time , and I will inform you that monkey see .....monkey do .....is a reality in this new world  of internet information

Reminds me of the posters hevi shot plastered all over cabelas pushing that the 5's in the magblends were so you had the energy to lay birds out at 75?!?!

Took a kid hunting one year who show'ed up with a unfired box and a gun with no choke and said, "I should still be good to 50 right?" people that don't even know with patterning is see these advertisements as fact. I can only hope they miss clean on these shots rather than connect with a few or worse kill the first bird they pull the trigger on at long distances and think they can do it everytime or further the next.

And no, I didn't let him carry an unchoked unpatterned gun to the woods despite the exensive ammo he bought.

Well said Old Gobbler*-!!! If it was all about killing a turkey it wouldn't be fun and I wouldn't be doing it.  Its about the experience and being in Gods great outdoors and experience one of his great creations!   Its about spending time with family and friends and listen and trying to out smart an old gobbler.  Its about getting them close and making a good and responsible shot....out of respect for Gods awesome creation!  I can't see it any other way!
