Hey all. Thought I'd post about the new hammer I picked up today. Been looking to get a new auto gun b4 spring and was leaning towards a SBE2, but wanted to take a look at the SX3 before decidening. I've had a SX2 for about 8 years and it's been great. Stopped in my LGS today and they had just received a new SX3 NWTF edition 12 ga. This is the one with the 24" barrel and picatinny rail on top. Held it for about 90 seconds and then had the wallet out. Got a good deal also at below 1K. Can't beat that when I was looking at at least $1600 for Benelli. Anyways, if anyone has any experience withe this gun or the supplied Briley turkey choke please chime in. Also would love to hear some poi ions on optics. Have a Trijicon baby ACOG on my other gun, may go that way again.

Congratulations! The SX3 is a fine gun. I've had one for several years and it fits me and functions flawlessly. It's very light and easy to carry in the field. You also got an excellent buy.

Mine is the 3" version and has the Perma-Cote UT finish on the metal and Dura-Touch on the stock and forend. My gun shoots to point of aim and for hunting I currently just use the bead. Your Trijicon would however be hard to beat.

I've tried a variety of turkey chokes with that gun and several work well. Depending upon design, internal geometry, chokes with exit diameters between .640 (Browning Full Strut) to .670 and in between will work well.

I like Hevi-13 shells and find that the 3" shells with 2 oz. of either #6 or #7 shot pattern exceptionally well. I've also shot the Magnum Blend shells a good bit but prefer the standard load personally.

Good luck with your new gun.

Thanks,
Clark

After a lot of testing, I've found that Invector plus guns with 24" barrels like a 660 choke. I have a Browning Silver.  My 24" barrel likes the non ported PG 660. This tube was designed for the Fed #7 HW load.  I tried to get the Fed load to pattern, but it wouldn't out of my gun.

I'm going to get some 3.5 #5 Win Long Beards to try in the PG 660. The turkey thugs 3.5" #5 liked the PG 660.

I also have some Win 3" #6 XR and old Federal blue/gold boxes to try as well.

I have tried the following chokes; PG 675, JH 670, Ballistic Specialties 655, and the PG 660 NP.

I don't have any experience with that choke. My 26" silver hunter likes the Indian creek .665 the best out of the ones I have tried.

my sx3 has a 28" barrel and it likes indian creek bds .665 with 3.5-2.25-7's

I bout the sx3 nwtf edition last year and I absolutely love it. It handles really well and patterns awesome. I was surprised how well the stock choke patterned in this gun. I shoot the hevi shot magnum blends and it's an awesome combo. Ill be tryin the code black this spring to see how that patterns. Great choice you'll really like it. It's the perfect tool!
