Hey guys,

So I am wanting to learn how to turn strikers, and eventually one day turn pot calls. The pots will come way down the line as I just started a new job and that is going to take a lot of time... I need help deciding between these two lathes...

Also if you could please post some links of other tools I will need. Thanks!

Drew, both lathes are good lathes, I have a Jet 1220 VS in the shop. I do most of my turning on a Delta, but there are some projects that I do on the Jet. The obvious difference between the lathes you are looking at is that the 1221VS has reverse and the 12" swing would would be better if you were thinking about turning bowls, etc. The 1015 VS would be adequate for turning strikers and pot calls.
If there is a Rockler store nearby, you might be able to look at them to compare

Both are good lathe's.  I know guys that have them and they get the job done.  As for myself, I don't own a lathe.  I have limited space, so opted for a shop smith, multiple machines in one.  I also don't turn my pots, I use a router with an Incra lift.  Much faster and accurate for me.  Good luck on whatever you get.

Both are good lathes IMO.  I run a Jet Model JWL-1220VS myself and it has served me well and I don't baby the machine.  I think that between the two that you are looking at that if you have the room it would be worth the extra money upfront to invest in the JWL-1221VS-12-21".  That 21" between centers will come in handy down the road once you are bitten by the "turning bug"!!!

Don't know if you are still thinking about these, but both are quality lathes, I use my Nova 3000DVR for turning out pots and for center drilling...and my Rikon for everything else, funny thing I got 2800.00 in the Nova and 400 in the rikon....had them both for 10 years and the only thing I have done to either has been a new belt on the Rikon just this past month....

Just get a Vicmarc and have no more wants for a lathe
