Was thinking about getting the barrel on my 870 polished. I've talked with a few local gun folks around here an nobody has any real experience with doing it. Anybody on this site recommended? And with getting the barrel polished is this a one time thing or once a year? I know nothing much of it except what I hear on here.

Not sure who specifically does it but it is an easy diy procedure.   Check out the sticky up top.

Go into the gun forum and click on the polishing post. There are some grest pics and you can easily do it yourself. If nothing else you can see the procedure so you will know what is actually happening.

I guess my question is really more of it is a one time thing or before every season?

It prob depends how much you shoot. I did mine a couple years ago and have only run a few shells through it since. If you do it to an all purpose gun and shoot a lot of shells through it it may need done more often.
