Well teammates, my 2013 turkey season starts tommorow. I am gonna head with a buddy of mine to a field where my son killed his first gobbler last weekend.
If no luck there, I have another spot that holds some good birds.
Either way, it's just good to be getting out!

No trees were hurt in the sending of this message, however a large number of electrons were highly inconvenienced.

Spring turkey hunting, I love it so.                FREEDOM IS NOT FREE

Well, opening day was a bust. Heard excellent gobbling off the roost, but I didn't know the area as good as I should have, and the birds were all in the upper field, and no amount of coaxing would bring them any closer. Left there, and went to where H killed his bird last week. Silent as a tomb.
Took a buddy of mine to another good spot, and hunted till noon. Still nothing.
This morning, went up behind a good friends house, and heard a ton of gobbling at another good spot, so I picked up my stuff, and went there.
My calling got an instant response, and game on! I climbed up the hill as fast as an old, fat guy could, and got set up off the upper field.
I heard 2 gobble right off to my Primos Box Cutter, and here we go! I played cat and mouse, till all heck broke loose with thundering gobbles right to my right about 10 yards up the field!
I get my gun up and ready, and the first bird walks into gun range. Jake. He was followed by 2 more jakes, and they all milled around 10 yards in front of me. All of a sudden, they all gobbled and scared the crap out of me!
They hung around until they were scared out of the field by 2 deer.
Pretty exciting morning. I'm headed to a field tommorow where my FIL killed a nice tom this morning, and there is one tom left.

Go get him
Gonna do my best, bud!
My cousin was hunting just above my father in law, and saw the entire kill unfold. He stayed where he was with his grandson, and saw the other tom in the same area the first one was killed.
I'm hoping the blood left on my shirt from Harrison's kill will bring me some good luck! It's been a long dry spell, that's for sure!
