This gobbler I killed this morn really looks like some sort of toad and I was curious as to why his head looked like that below his mouth in his neck area. Ive never killed one that looked like that Ive only killed maybe 8 mature gobblers and one jake and just have never seen it. I cut it open too see and I got a lot of jellied blood so my question to you guys is did this happen this morning or do you think it was like this before now without trying to stir up a hornets nest I'm 99% sure this bird is definately one if not the only one Ive shot at this year without getting him. What would've caused this or is this natural, I didnt see much sign that I hit him in the head this morning most of the damage was on the neck below where the feathers and waddle meet.

The one I killed this year did the same thing. I didn't kill him stone dead and had to foot stomp him a little. I figured that's what caused it.
People who don't get it, don't get that they don't get it.

I have seen that a lot. It's just swole up from internal bleeding.

Most of the time it happens when the gobbler is hung upside down after the shot. It blood from his head and neck. Good turkey. congrats,
