Anyone had a chance to see how the Federal Tukey Thug shells perform out of the 835/SSX combo?

cjordan

With 3.5" #6 thugs mine was only putting about 85-87 in the 10" at 40yds with a 24" barrel. I have read where guys were getting a good bit more with the same set up, so I may need to polish my barrel a little more.

Thanks. For $10, i may buy a box to try.  Sounds like I will be ordering the hevi-13's though

I picked up a box of Federal Turkey Thug 3.5" 6's.  I didnt have a lot of time, but I touched a couple off this afternoon:

835 , 20" barrel, Truglo SSX,  43 Degrees  --

I got 170 hits in the 10" circle at 30 yards.

Not sure how that would translate at 40, but the Thugs threw a nice even hunting pattern

My 835 dosent like the SSX, but match it up with the star dot or PG and thugs it will toss very nice lead patterns.

Id still like to try some Hevi-13 thru the SSX.  I may give the PG a shot too.  Star dot is pretty much out as they are almost impossible to find.

I saw where some people had good results with this combo so I tried it and it didn't work well with my setup. I'm going to clean up my barel and try again but the IC BDS .675 did a better even pattern and more pellets.

Got pictures on my phone that I need to put up, but with a dirty barrel and the SSX @ 40 I got 139 with the 3 1/2 thugs.
Edit: put the pictures up in the pattern pictures thread

I just tried my 835 with the ssx, #6 turkey thugs 3.5" 20" barrel @ 33 degrees and got 101 hits at 40 yards.   I have never cleaned the barrel so I think I'm going to try that and see what happens.
