I'm new to this forum stuff so bare with me but I'm gearing up for turkey season and I need some recommendation. My mossberg has a 28 in barrel with the gas ports and it has a Nikon turkey pro scope mounted up top I just purchased a Indian creek black diamond strike .675 constriction choke and I have hevi shot hevi 13 3 in 2 oz 6 shot to start with just wanting max distance and knock down power in a 3 inch shell what is y'all's 2 cents

if those 6's dont give you the pattern you hope for i would definatly try the mag blends 3 in they usually shoot very well out of the 835. make sure to polish or deep clean that barrel!!! :mycross:

Welcome!  What you got will work fine.  I had that choke.  It shot well.  But really when you want advice on what your asking it would be better to ask questions before you buy what your going to use.  That's typically how it works.  I myself would shoot 3.5" #7's.

Well I had the hevi 13 3in 2 oz # 6 from last year I wasn't able to shoot them through my kicks gobbling thunder choke I bought those shells and a hevi shot choke a couple years ago for my win SX3 then I saw all the hype about mossberg 835's and turkey hunting so here we are and I still have the shells and I was just wondering if there was a 3 in shell any better than what I got I'm to much of a light weight to shoot a 3 1/2

I understand.  You got a good start combination.  You might want to try some Hevi-13 # #7 loads just to sse how they compare to 6's. But both are gonna kill any turkey at 40yds.  That's what we like to use for a max here at OG.  Good luck.

What about this bad lot I keep seeing people mentioning about? Would that have any thing to do with hevi 13 6's or 7's

ILIKEHEVI-13

The old lot 300325 in the 3.5" #7's was a killer.  I had a great shooting lot of the  3" #7's but I don't know what the number was for sure.

Smcminn

Aww I gotcha I misunderstood I thought someone was having trouble out of a certain lot # of them not that they were really awesome whoops I got to read more carefully lol

The closer the better obviously but you are lethal at 40 for sure.

Use what you have.  Them 6s will do a great job.

Hevi 6's will kill as far as you can hold a pattern to above 100 pellets in a 10" circle.

Like stated above though - Shannon has requested a 40 yard max for discussions on OG.

Let's just say there's no good reason why a bird would survive that combo at 40 yards.
