i don't know what you're looking to do, but there are plenty of bars and restaurants to go to.  king st. is full of bars but there is also a large college crowd at most of these.  if you're just looking for a casual restaurant and bar, then tattooed moose is the ticket.  nice little dive bar.  i strongly recommend the duck club.

Downtown Charleston has a lot of bars and good eating. Across the bridge in Mount Pleasant is good stuff too. Try Reds on Shim Creek if you go over there.

Taco Boy, Hymans seafood, rooftop are all pretty good in downtown.

I've never been there, but would be checking out some of the civil war history of the area...
