I went on a cruise years ago and it sorta soured me on cruises.  They had me get on a helicopter and go where people were shooting at me, the food sorta sucked, accomdations sucked could only take a shower every third day, in fact now that I think about it it didn't sorta suck it did suck.

My wife and I went on a cruise to Grand Bahama last year to celebrate our 25th anniversary.  We went with a group called Family Life Today on their Love Like You Mean It cruise.

This is a Christian ministry that booked the entire ship for the cruise.  I don't think I would want to go any other way.  The food was amazing.  There were evening seminars you could choose to attend, or not attend.  There were numerous concerts with a variety of music styles, an illusionist and 2 comedians.  We stayed pretty busy both on the ship and on the 2 islands we went to.  It was a great experience overall.

You may want to check about getting motion sickness patches before going.  They apply behind your ear and are good for about 2 days per patch.  I had to use mine.  My wife didn't.

Check with Carnival on their website. You can get some really good deals in Feb and March. Closest port to you would probably be Charlston SC. Be prepared to pay alot in parking fees if you drive to any of the cruise ports. If you fly, another port to leave for a good Bahamas cruise is Port Canaveral. Charlston cruises gives you one more day on the water. Some Feb and early March cruises u can pick up for about $36 per person per day. Btw their are more fees involved, but that is to be expected. Carnival doesn't require a passport as long as u port back at original port.

Its been awhile , Ive been on Carnival and Royal Caribbean -- one thing that is very annoying is that they just about want you to tip every single employee , its like you are paying for the cruse line employees salary for them - concentrate on tipping your waiter and your room service guy -

We liked the Royal Caribbean better ,try and get a cabin with a window or balcony -  I put on 8 pounds in one week when we went on Royal Caribbean , the food is good , or at least it was when I was there - Like mentioned make sure you go with a good group of folks dont get caught in some wild crowd on the boat

I know you said Bahamas , but try the 1 week trip the the Eastern Caribbean , stay on the boat for the Port of San Jaun-  Puerto Rico if its a short stay , your not missing out on much its like Brooklyn or something like that

St Thommas and St Marteen  are very nice

I've been on Royal Caribbean (Bahamas), Carnival (Cozumel), and Princess (Alaska-for our 25th anniversary). By far the best experience was Princess both for the accomodations AND the trip itself. Carnival tends to cater to the party crowd and was my least favorite. One thing that I really like about a cruise is that you don't have to pack up, drive/fly to a new city, unpack in the hotel, see the sights, pack back up, etc. You just go to bed (or not) and wake up in that new city ready to go. I LOVE cruises, we'll be doing Alaska again for our 30th. This time we'll go clear up and see Denali, not just the Skagway, Ketchikan strip.

My girlfriend and I are going on a cruise to the Bahamas this May. This will be my first and her third cruise. We are going with Carnival, and she made sure that we got a room with a window. I'm not overly excited about it, but she is.

Just spent a week in the eastern carib after Thanksgiving. Went Norweigen Cruise Lines this time around. Hit St Martin, St Thomas and Bahamas. Enjoyed the free style dining (no set time for dinner) and the entertainment was top notch. A balcony room with the A/C cranked and the balcony door open to let the sounds of the ocean in made sleeping great. We went out of Miami on the Epic. Good time as the wife loved no cooking or cleaning for 7 days. :icon_thumright:
