Stevens Goldwing 512, 20 Gauge

I have a model 512 o/u in 20 gauge. The first time out on the sporting clay course, I noticed after the first four shots, the bottom choke tube was missing. I kinda thought I was getting forgetful and did not put it in. No way! As anal as I am, I knew it was in there when I started.  I installed another one I had with me and started to check them and tighten after every station. I finished and passed it on as just a fluke.

Move on to today, I'm out busting bunny's with my 512, took a couple of shots,(bunnys 2, me 0),. Checked the tubes and the top tube was just about out. I was lucky to catch it.

I love this o/u, it's light, looks good and shoots well. I just can't keep the chokes in! Strange.

Anyone else have this problem? What did you do to repair?  Thanks.

I have one. It never happened too me yet,but I'll keep checking now.

You may want to try some plumber's tape, the kind that you put on the thread so pipe. It's very thin but works with tubes that want to come loose.

Thanks again Clark, that worked great. Out busting some bunnies again, (nothing for the pot) and both chokes stayed in nice.

That didn`t screw up your threads?

Nope, both screwed out no problem. It's a tape form of Teflon that keeps water or gas pipes from leaking. It goes on easy and comes off the threads with no problems. You can reapply and screw them back in.

Works great.
