Illinois Concealed Carry

The U.S. Court of Appeals has struck down Illinois' ban of concealed carry for its citizens. The State has been given 180 days to come up with a law that would allow its citizens to legally carry a concealed handgun.

That ruling was as a result of a suit by a lady who was brutally assualted and nearly killed in a church on a Monday morning while volunteering her time to count the offering from the previous Sunday.

Her contention was that if Illinois had a CC law, she would have been able to defend herself against the attack that put her in the hospital, subjected her to numerous surgeries and probably permanently disabled her. The U.S. Appeals Court agreed.

Currently, Illinois is the only state in the U.S. that does not allow ordinary citizens some form of concealed carry.

We'll see what the future holds.

Thanks,
Clark

Turkey Trot

A step in the right direction.  It will interesting to see how recalcitrant IL will be and how onerous they will make the process.  A lot of questions follow, such as whether it has to be a "shall issue" state, what kind of burdens, expense, and pre-conditions the state can impose (like mandatory training, continuing ed for renewal), etc.

Knowing the way IL runs things it will probably be cheaper to get caught without a permit than it will be to get one legally.Never could understand how one state could screw up so many different things

Unfortunately as long as Quinn is the Governor of IL there will never be a C.C. bill signed into law.  He has made this statement publicly in the past and will not change his mind as he has no respect for the hunters, sportsman or recreational firearm shooters.
It is a shame he thinks all gun owners are like his Chicago thugs..

The court order gives legislators 180 days to produce a law or without such a law residents are allowed to carry without restriction.

The governor and some Chicago legislators plan to make the law as restrictive and expensive as possible. Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel has offered the services of the city, money, lawyers, etc. to AG Lisa Madigan and urged an appeal of the decision.

We'll see how all of this plays out in the coming months.

We had the same problem, here in Wi. Once we got the Libs voted out, it was a cakewalk..

I have lived in Illinois for 49 years and worked for the state for almost 28.  They'll find a way to screw it up.   Illinois political leaders  =    :TrainWreck1:   We are long past the days when we had Statesmen to guide, represent, and lead us.  Mostly now we have career politicians and nest feathering money grubbers.

I hope they can get this done before Biden and his croonies come up with bright ideas for gun control.
If we are not allowed to carry weapons neither should the Secret Service be allowed to carry concealed weapons. After all, one of them may get crazy partying in South America and go on a shooting rampage! We need to make sure that doesn't happen :TooFunny:
