With "friends" like that...

I am very fortunate to have a friend a couple of years younger than me that grew up hunting with his grandpa.  While I was growing up, my dad worked most every weekend to pay the bills and provide for the family.  Times were few and far between that we got to go hunting, although we did get to go camping or fishing now and then.  Most of what I have learned about hunting has come from hanging around my hunting buddy and reading hunting magazines.  My hunting buddy has taken me to several places he has hunted successfully over the years.  I took my first 2 deer on one of these spots.  Although I have gone back and hunted them by myself, I have not taken anyone but one of my daughters to the spot.  I have now been able to get rights to hunt a couple of small pieces of private ground.  I have taken him out to scout and hunt a few times on these pieces of land.
Last week I threw my back out after checking my trail camera and putting out some corn trying to get my dad on a deer for muzzleloader season.  I ended up going to the ER last Thursday in an ambulance because I couldn't tolerate getting into the car due to the pain. Knowing how much time and effort I had put into trying to get dad on a hunt, my buddy volunteered to go along on Saturday to help set up a blind and do an work needed if dad were to get a shot on a deer.  He even drove us to the property, almost an hour away.  I'm really blessed to have a friend like my hunting buddy.  He gave up opening morning of muzzleloader season, not even taking his gun, to help me take my dad on a hunt.
I would have no problem having no further contact with someone who took advantage of the kind of good will you showed your "friend".
