Hey Y'all,

In the process of making a bed frame out logs.  Once that project is finished I want to build a desk.

I have everything figure out on the desk except for the top.  I have a bunch of rough cut logs.  They dont all line up with each other and I want to keep it that way to have the rustic look.

Is there a type of resin filler that I can use to fill the gaps?  They may very from the thickness of a pencil, to the width of a finger or two.

Any info would be appreciated.

Guess you could use clay if you want to keep it rustic.   :toothy12:

I would think if you cut the edges straight and butted them together tight enough you could get what you were looking for. Shouldn't be able to see the fresh cuts. If you want the gaps put a piece of plexiglass on top of it. It's kinda hard to work with crooked wood.

That's what I would do.

Yall dont think filling it with some of that liquid glass resin would do the trick?

Im sure some type of fiberglass resin would do it but I would imagine that it would probably be pretty ugly when you finished it.  The only way I would do it is if I could mix something in the resin to color it close to the wood, which may be tough to do.

Tail Feathers

I know a lady who had cedar counter tops in the kitchen, covered by some polymer-type resin stuff.  She said they poured it on and it's about a quarter inch thick.  Hardened up enough to use as a kitchen counter, and it's clear.

But I don't see her anymore to ask exactly whatt it was.  But something is out there!
