Does anyone have a favorite hunting app for your smart phone? I would use it for marking stands/locations, adding notes and weather info.
The addiction will cost you time and money and alienate those close to you. I can give you the names of a dozen addicts — myself included — whose wives begin to get their hackles up a week before turkey season starts and stay mad until a week after it closes.

Cabelas Recon Hunt. Really handy.

A friend uses whitetail freaks and loves it. Mark food plots and it will tell you the size of it. You can keep up with what u have planted and date it was planted.

i have the cabelas recon app and its pretty neat. A few features: ballistics chart, a map feature for bloodtrailing, compass, a ruler on the map that will measure distances (how far is it from any point on the map to another), moon phases, ability to pin waypoints on the map.  I use the map more than anything, and there's more features that I've never used. Its worth a try. The only con is that it has crashed on me a time or two, but I'd buy it again.

I use deer scouter quite a bit for navigation and plotting information.  Mostly it's a GPS that you can input additional data into.  There is also a turkey scouter app that is the same but specific to turkey hunting.

Another vote for Cabelas app

I am in the same boat and watching several hunting apps in App minder.

On the Cabelas Recon, how much does it affect the battery life of an IPhone 4s?  Secondly, does it provide best hunting times (major and minor feeding periods) for an area?

I also want an app that I can record the stats of a hunt. It would be nice if it automatically records the weather data for the hunting site and time. Then you can just add how many turkeys or deer you heard, seen or harvested.  $4.99

I have looked at Buck Commander, but worry about the affect on battery life. $4.99

Deer and turkey scouter apps both seem over simplified and I worry if they are just a fancy note pad requiring a lot of typing. $2.99 each.

I like the idea of Isolunar app for providing the best hunting times, but I feel like this should be included in any hunting app I buy. $4.99

I do not want to spend $20 on apps to get what should be included all in one app.

Thanks for any opinions.
