Finally upgraded to a bigger and better saw.  It's awesome!

Wendell,

Actually it's the MS290.  56.5cc's...Very aggressive and powerful saw.

Sorry, my bad.  FS is the designation for the weedeaters/brushcutters.  I have the old 029, which was the precursor to the MS 290.  That saw has been through more rick of wood than I care to discuss.  It is a great saw with plenty of power for everything that I tackled.  I fell trees over 10" thicker than my 20" bar with the saw.  It should serve you well.

Wendell,
I had the other brand of orange chain saw and had nothing but problems with it.  My brother has an older stihl probably 25 years old and it's cut hundreds of cords of wood with no problem.  I almost bought the Echo because of the 5 year warranty but this one came with a 4 year warranty.  Everyone that I've talked to about Stihl loves them, so far so do I.  Shortly I have some osage to start resawing, then I'll know if I love it or not.

Be sure to keep your eye on the oil flow.  That osage is unkind to even the best of saws.  My 029 is at least 18 years old.

That's my next one.  I've been through 3 of that brand (wore them out).  Can't beat it.
If you can't stand behind our troops.  Feel free to stand in front of them.

I will be in the market for a new saw in a few. I just bought me a Alaskan saw mill. It sure makes slabbing wood out pretty simple. We used a MS 290 cutting a bunch of pecan the last few days. Now it to my shed to dry for a while.
