I am well aware of playing second fittle to Catdaddy's story telling plus he types and spells so good, it just really impressive for an ole country boy.   Never the less I gota try and let the good folks at OG know my take on the past few days and how munch they meant to  me.
It all started about 10 years ago when I meat Joe Salton on the other board,  we chatted for a while then finally got to gather for a turkey hunt in beautiful Ca.   the scenery paled to compare to both the inward and outward goodness of his family,  I mean it , these are all some good looking folks.   It was as if I had known the 30 years , we had a blast.   We have been to see each other several times, and are to the point of singing and preaching in each others church.  I have a great friend.D
Shortly aftward I read a post started by flintlock called "special people" .   I read a reply about a rural Mississippi preacher, I was so impressed I contacted the writer the Pastor's son.  I was asked for my address and catdaddy sent me a bunch of his fathers books , one of my most treasured possesions.  Though the years I have had many pictures with the fist pump , and this past sunday was another fond memory.   I have a great friend.

I also meet blue ribbon got to know him and his family up in Iowa  .   It seemed like we ought to be kin folk.   He has killed some other biggest deer and turkey I have ever seen, I really look up to him as a hunter you can not believe how surprised I was Sat. night when he spoke at our Church;s wildlife meeting , and he called me one of his mentors.   I am truly honored.  I have a great friend.

though Ty green I meat Lx Trkyhntr   3 time grand national gobbling champion and a darn good hunter with a presence around people that makes you want to hug his neck.   I look for may more turkey hunts beside him.  I have a great friend.

Then their is
vahunter AND HIS BUDY RONNIE,  i DONT KNOW ANY BODY THAT HUNTS AS HARD AD THEY DO..   and LAUGH ANY MORE THAN THEY DO.I type in caps because I am picking at Rick (VAHUNTER)   I really look forward to hunting and fishing with them again.   I have made some great Friends.

We had a great time and some outstanding worship services where Jesus Christ was Honored.

Preacher, I had a great time getting to know you and  your family.  They took me in last week like I was part of the family and made me feel right at home!  The love in their house is contagious to say the least.  I too feel like I have been part of their family for all of my life, and am sure I will be for the remainder of it.

Preacher is one fine turkey hunter, and is just as at home in the woods as he is in his recliner.  It was fun to hunt with Preacher, because there was no adjust time.  Our hunting style's were just alike!  I have hunted with lots of people that just don't know how to get around in the woods, Preacher is NOT one of those!

His southern charm and wit are out of this world.  I don't know of any 5 day period of my life that I have laughed more.

Preacher, thanks for the invitation to come speak at your church and turkey hunt with you!  I look forward to the next time we get to step into the woods or the church together again! :icon_thumright:

Robin (Preacher),

First of all thanks for the kind words.  I really enjoyed our hunt with you.  Glad I got to meet your family.  Your well mannered children reflect back to the good job that you and Tracey have done raising them.  I look forward to fishing and hunting with you again.  Words cannot express the joy of having friends like you.  Thanks for all your kindness while Ronnie and myself came down to visit and hunt with you.  May God Bless you my Friend!

PS
I am VATURKEY not VAHUNTER and I type in CAPS so I can see it better, but I will work on that cause I know its considered hollering.  LOL

On occasion I give some of the guys here a hard time for some of their Southern tendencies.  Its all in fun though.   There isn't much that compares to good ole country Southern Hospitality..............add "turkey hunter" to that combination and I doubt you could find a better group of guys.         Maybe a little thick around the midsection from eating all that catfish and hog lips, but a great group of guys. ;D

I like hearing great stories like the ones you, catdaddy, LX, TRKYHTR, and all the other guys have been sharing about the time you guys spent in MS.  While I'm from a little farther north (Soutern IL/Western KY), the stories make me think of home.

Yes Robin you do have a friend. I feel at home in your house or church. I only wish I could have spent some time in the turkey woods with you. There is always next year. I wish I could have been down there when Ty and Stephen was there. Those are 2 guys I would love to spend time with in the turkey woods. Jake is growing up fast and his girlfriend is cute. Love you guys and tell everybody I said hello.

Robin, I began to realize some years ago, that as much as I love hunting the wild turkey, and I do, the friends I've made because of my involvement in hunting is much more important than any beard or limbhanger spurs I'll ever bag. My Dad, who I've come to realize was a much smarter man than either his education or occupation would lead one to believe, was fond of saying he'd much rather have a million friends, as to have a million dollars.

Now, I may not have a million friends, but the ones I have are sure worth a million to me. Neill

Robin, I'd like that. Maybe, in a couple of years. Our mowing business has grown to the point to where I really can't get away after we start, and Alabama has become my "home away from home", so I guess I'll keep heading there the 15th of March each year as long as I'm able. Thought I might be able to do a "swing by" this year, and at least visit a little, but as usual, time was shorter than it should be, so I drove straight through both ways.

You know you are always welcome here any time you want to come up and hunt. We don't have the birds we had a few years ago, but there are still several running around.  :) Neill
