I just got one of the Winchester SXP Turkey models with 24" bbl. choke sytem is Invector Plus. I want some suggestions from Invector + shooters on chokes and results. I will likely shoot the mag blends,
I had a Win X2 about 3 years ago with a 24" bbl. but was shooting the nitros and hevi #5's with great results out of several chokes. Rhino .670, Indian Creek .675, kicks .680.
I would like some feedback before I buy. Thanks :smiley-patriotic-flagwaver-an

Hey James,

That gun is still pretty new to the market and I'm not sure many shooters have experience with it and a variety of turkey chokes. It is however a pretty much standard Invector+ barrel, no lengthened forcing cone, etc. The only real difference internally is the chrome-plated bore, so what works with other standared I+ barrels may work well with it.

I have handled and shot that gun but can't claim to have spent enough time with it to know much more than can be read about it or than I've been told by the folks at Winchester. It's the "Speed Pump" that was introduced a few years ago but never made it to market, renamed and with a different stock and forearm to look more like the SX3. It should be good gun and it's certainly priced right.

The I+ system seems to be pretty forgiving. The best patterns I'm seeing currently from  the 2 BPS guns that I've been shooting a lot lately are from the Pure Gold, Hevi-13 and SSX turkey chokes. Very different designs but all are working very well.

Good luck with your new gun.

Thanks,
Clark

Hey Clark, Thanks for sharing your info and experience. I shot the gun this morning and the functioning is smooth as butter. The only gripe I see is the trigger is very heavy. This will be corrected before turkey season. I ran the kicks .680 with the 3.5" blends and had 219 hits in the 10" circle at 40 yds. Im pleased with that. My son and I have killed over 6 gobblers with the blends and they will hammer them.

My sx2 24 barrel with indian creek .665 gives me 120s with winchester supreme lead 5s 3.5 in the ten at 40.... My 1300 shoots well with the old school non ported undertaker, I'm sure the indian creeks would be a good place to start as the invector plus loves indian creeks!

Hey James,

I'd say you have it figured out already. That's great performance from any gun at any time. Good luck with your new gun. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Thanks,
Clark
