Didn't we used to have a reloading section

n2deer

Still do, I think you have to have a minimum number of post to see it.

fatboy

I thought I had it about a week ago how may posts do I need to get it back? I thought that was one of the main draws to this site.

Woodsman4God

yes we do if there is a minimum post number it is probably 50, just go into one of the welcome sections or birthdays and post there until you reach 50

The minimum post count is 100 to view the Reloading section because some members just felt compelled to break the No Over 40 Rule in the Reloading Section.  Each time that a member breaks this rule the post count to view that section will increase.  In a week or two we plan on removing the 100 minimum post count from that section if everyone behaves themselves and we see no more talk of Over 40 crap.  If people want to talk Long Range Shooting then they need to go to a Long Range Shooting site.  This is a Turkey Hunting Site and that is the way its going to stay. When we say Nothing Over 40 we mean it.

rabdawg

I LIKE THE RELOADING SECTION WHY NOT GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR EQUPIMENT BUT WHAT DO I KNOW IAM JUST A DUMP TURKEY HUNTER AND NOW I CAN NOT USE THE RELOADING SECTION BECAUSE I DONT HAVE 100 POST HOW DUMP IS THAT

rabdawg

NOW IAM UP TO 7 POST 93 MORE AND I CAN SHOOT A TURKEY AT 41 YARDS

fatboy

I don't get on here much , but reloading is one of my hobbies that relates to hunting. The person who runs this site does us a favor by having this site. We should be able to talk about our reloads without mentioning yardage. This site is a very good source of turkey information. I believe I have been helped by this sites reloading section and can't wait to see it come back. I think the rules set by the site should be easy to follow. If not could the post just be deleated? The no over 40 rule should be easy to follow, as long as everyone is aware of it. Thanks for a great site.

bird

Good deal fatboy and thank you for your understanding and support.

Rabdawg  It's one thing to talk about a fudge factor of 41 or 45 yards but when 75, 84 and 91 yards are being discussed and we know these members know full well that they are aware of the No Over 40 Rule then we have to take steps to send a message that we are not going to bend on this policy and we will not allow anyone to break this rule and we don't care who you think you are or how long you have been on this site.  This is the site rule and this rule goes for everyone. If you don't like the rule, too bad but this is the way it's going to be so get used to it.

We have tried being reasonable countless times in the past,  by simply asking some folks to take it easy with talking about football field  range shots , yes we are talking about 90+ yard shots with a shotgun - Being nice obviously didn't work - Because we just observed they couldn't overcome their urges to flagrantly publicly talk about actually shooting {hypothetically or not} at a gobbler at 91 yards , even after sending them Pm's not to do so moments before they did !!! Also we are made to feel like people are talking, promoting , and are attempting to coordinate a atmosphere here that taking rifle distance type shots is acceptable - for the purpose of selling the material to do so...personal gain , at the expense of the wild turkey , the image of the sport of wild turkey hunting , and the image of the site -- this is not a turkey rifle site

Talk by people taking 91 yard shots is nothing more than a sales pitch to clueless rookies to rope them in for potential sales

It is obvious we are dealing with some unreasonable types - We have pulled the plug on the 90 yard fantasy talk /promoting , and denied the unreasonable access to  run a "sales pitch"  on clueless & impressionable folks - They are right now running around telling folks we are the long shot police ,like its the end of the world for them....  when in reality there are some that are hell bent on promoting rifle shots on turkeys and trying to ram their mentality and product on anyone that strays into that thread(s) its been going on for years , and it will stop right now .

For those of you who just cant go in living without having a turkey gun that is nothing more than glorified rifle in sheep's clothes .....with the intent of "shooting" a gobbler at "Hail Mary"  90 +yard distances ,  turkey hunting is best off with you not being involved with it - let me repeat , if you like to take , or want to take these football field type shots and talk about it publicly on this site , leave the site and do not ever come back here again , people are living in a fantasy world if they think they are ever going to get respect from anyone around here with that mentality  .

Whereas lays the issue of where do we lay the line on what is acceptable to post publicly , we wont be going from thread to thread , policing each thread based on what we feel someone is capable of doing -  What we are doing is going by the widely acceptable and standardized Industry standard of 40 yard benchmark , the same the NWTF uses at the still shoots and is sociably acceptable for everyone to discuss , I'm sure for those looking at a picture or talk of shotgun performance can utilize their "imagination" as to what a gun to do past that --  What a person does in their own time is their own business , so we are not in the least bit infringing on anyone

We are reasonable people , we are not talking about "fudge factor" or "what if" shots here and we are not the long shot police , but this talk is stinking up the site ,we got a whole load of well intentioned people who are trying to set up shotgun to cleanly kill a gobbler at reasonable distances and even a" fudge factor" or" what if " situation - we are fine with this - this doesn't involve this group of us -

If things settle down then we can go back no normal

I completely understand the reason the forum was limited.  For every successful hail mary shot on a turkey, there are countless birds wounded at that distance that suffer, die and are never found.  Turkey hunting is about more than how far a reload, shotgun, and choke can push a shot, it's about woodsmanship, calling, and an appreciation of the bird that rises to respect and protection.  Slob hunters ruin so many types of hunting, we have to be vigilant to keep them from ruining our sport.  These things said, 99% of my 50 posts were on the reloading forum.  It's the primary area I read.  I enjoy reloading and got a lot of good information from the forum.  My goal, as I believe everyone else who reloads should be also, is to create loads that kill cleanly at responsible distances.  I sincerely appreciate the forum moderators' work in keeping this site up and running.  It is without a doubt the premier turkey hunting site on the net.  However, IMHO, walling off the reloading forum is not the answer.  If those who agree with the moderator's views (see Old Gobbler's post) would refuse to post in reply to those irresponsible posters, they would stop.  Nothing is worse (at least when it comes to posting on a forum) than to post and have not a single reply.   Hopefully, the forum will be back up and public soon.  I really don't want to have to post 50 more times just to view the reloading forum.

MS... You make some very valid and reasonable points in your statement and I would like to thank you for taking the time to voice your opinion in a very adult manner.  I was talking with Shannon earlier today about this and he has made the decision that when he gets home tonight from work that he will remove the post limit on site members and bring it back to zero. We look forward to the site members in taking the lead in not only following the Nothing Over 40 Rule but also in basically helping us enforce the rule.

Thank You  :icon_thumright:
