Arkansas Bird

My time for hunting/scouting has been more limited than ever this year after moving out of state for school but on opening morning I managed to make it happen and get a bird on the ground.  After a long frustrating season last year in Arkansas I was afraid I may be banking on out-of-state trips again this year so I'm more than thankful for getting on this bird.

Killed him at 10:45, my dad and I had just started making the loop through the 4th or 5th property of the day (we are both cursed with a bad case of the run&gun sickness,) when we caught this old boy out in the field by himself.  It wasn't the prettiest hunt in the world but it was effective, gave him about 3 yelps on the tube and he was on his way.  Instead of coming across the field at an angle to us he walked straight across and down the fence row I was sitting in, I let the mossberg bark the first chance I had which ended up being at about 9 steps.  Pretty sure I bounced the wad off of him at that distance and there definitely wasn't much flopping either.  3 year old bird, I was on him the last day of the season last year in the next field over but he wasn't buying what I was selling that day.  21 lbs, 10" beard, and 1 1/8" sharp spurs.

Glad to get one on the ground with some limited time but can't wait to head out to Nebraska and Kansas in 2 weeks, hope to have some more pics to share!

May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?
If attacked by a mob of clowns, go for the juggler.
