It is funny how a season goes. Two weeks ago I was wondering if I would even kill a second bird in Bama and now I'm done.

Last night I was debating if I should hunt or where I should go this morning when my friend called. He said there were 3 gobblers in a pasture and possibly we could double. I said sure why not and set the alarm for 3:45.

We had to walk 3/4 of a mile to two large trees in the middle of a pasture and set up. When we crossed the creek I was thinking, man this grass is way too high. It was to my knees and hips. Not good for turkeys to fly down in. We got there and my friend looked at me and said, the grass wasn't that high last week. As the sun began to break we began hearing turkeys gobbling around us. 2 were gobbling on the trap club to our east. What a small world where I am good friends with the owner and the man that leases the hunting is also my business accountant. I sent him a text and said I was in the neighbors pasture and there were two birds gobbling on the trap club. About 5 min later I got a text that said go get them.

The game was back on. It had been silent for 20 minutes now as we walked to the fence. As we got there we heard him gobble again. We jumped the fence and my friend looked at me and said, "I feel like I'm poaching" we just laughed. He has hunted the neighboring property for years and never crossed the fence.

We slipped through the pines and they were gobbling and strutting in the cut grass just past the last trap field. There was 3 of them that got cranked back up and just gobbled their heads off. i sat down in the pines and just clucked and they went nuts. They would walk back and forth along the edge of the woods, but just would not stop for a clear shot. Finally one stepped into the pines and my friend kept saying shot, shoot, heck I couldn't see him. I leaned forward about a foot and there he was standing there at 20 yards. I let Ms. Wicked speak again and he hit the ground. It was funny because my friend was in the same position I was in the first of the season. i could see the bird, but he couldn't and I couldn't shoot that time because of where his head was. He had the same problem today, but I was able to lean forward and make the shot.

I am blessed to have an awesome season. Off to GA this weekend and then South Dakota next week.

Congrats! Good luck with the rest of the hunts..
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?
If attacked by a mob of clowns, go for the juggler.
