Illinois 1ST SEASON SMACKDOWN!

Tuesday of this week my brother and law and I started are Illinois season off with a bang!  Perfect weather morning and the birds were gobbling.  A soggy bottom field was a clue the birds would come off the roost and head into a freshly planted top field.  We guessed right?  Plenty of gobbling off the roost and soon five hens had lit right into the field we set up on.  Soon after 2 gobblers made there was into the field and put on a hell of a show.  I called lightly enough to keep the attention of the gobblers.  Soon enough the hens had moved down to the other side of the field and both gobblers slowly made their way into our set-up.  For fun we had brought my little single shot .20 gauge out and at 30 steps it put a wallop on the bigger of the two birds.  It was a blessed morning and a great way to get this thing going.  Right back at it this weekend.  Couple of pics of the bird, me and my boys and my brother in law.  Hope everyone is having a great season.

Congrats. My brother and I hunted Pike the same days and the weather in IL. was just incredable. We just happened to have planned our trip in the 3 days between cold fronts. We both scored too. Im happy for ya and have a good rest of the season.
