Remington Ventilator

I just found a Remington Ventilator choke in my safe that has probably been there for 10 yrs. It says "Lead Only" right on it so I'm inclined to believe it. Does anyone know more about these? Would it be inadvisable to try it with Hevi13???

Oh yeah.  Several guys on here have gotten great patterns with that choke and Hevi-13 #7's.

Father uses a V on his 870 SM. He is getting high 190's with plain winchester HV 6's. Interesting reply about the hevi's..........looks like I might have to run a 3.5" hevi 7 through it and see if I can't beat that 190 mark.

190 at 30 yds?, cause ain't no way that combo will do 190 at 40.

It was very close to 40....last year when we shot we stepped it off as I forgot my range finder. Say it was between 38-40 yards. We got 190. I just looked at my notes. It blew away my other set ups using lead (the rest were 110-130).

I plan to try some 3.5" 7's through it and see what it does.

That Ventilator choke sucks.  I can't recommend it to anyone here.

I agree.  I told another guy on here the same thing about his 835 and a Pure Gold .670 shooting the Win XX red shells.  I think some guys here need to invest in a tape measure and use it.  Then they will soon learn what 40yds is.  And then they will soon realize they have been posting patterns at a lot closer distance.

That is the truth. 190 with Pb 6's at 40 with that combo and factory ammo.. I would have to be standing there to believe it..

For the money it is one of the best chokes going. I use one and love it.

longbeard22 uses one in a 1187 with winchester shells as a back up does great i believe goldhunter put some pics up last year

Fact of the matter is.....it kills turkeys and I am pretty sure if I told him the guys on a hunting board thought he was FOS he wouldn't lose any sleep at night over it.

Never claimed it was exactly 40 yards, but I know it wasn't 30. definetely 37-39 yards.

Thanks for all the responses guys! I will definitely be running some Hevi #6's & 7's through it to see how my 11-87 likes it. I also just got a Hevi13 choke to try in it too. Let the testing resume!!!
