A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands, love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper; his hands remember the rifle.

More than likely not.  Choke exit diameters are just a part of the overall geometry of what makes a choke shoot good patterns.

You will just have to try them.  Chances are your barrel will pick one that it tends to favor.  And it could be possible that all will shoot about the same, but I doubt it.

BigPeck215

in my opinion internal design and geomentry is more important than exit diameter, if this were not the case then we would all be shooting factory flush choke tubes in our chosen diameter, but this is not the case so internals play a larger role than exit diameter

nope they will all be a little different or greatly different

Skeeterbait

lot more to it than just a hollow tube.  length of constriction, length of parallel section, wad catchers, design and function of the ports, crown design all effect the pattern a choke will produce.

Hey Otis,

You raise one of the most important questions about choke tubes that can be asked. It's really all about the internal geometry of the choke and the e.d. is just one small part of that.

The internal design is much more important and will in large part dictate the patterns that you see at both short and long yardage.

Thanks,
Clark
