If you could hunt only one weekend of the season?

I would choose the second or third weekend in April.

Opener........for two reasons

1. Unpressured birds

2. In the south, season comes in so early, lots of times birds are still in winter flocks and just starting to break up and socialize. The gobblers are interetsed, but havent gathered a harem yet. The boys are still running together and you have a shot at multiple gobblers coming to the gun.

Around middle of season cuz in VA you cant hunt all day until mid season. Id rather hunt all day.
