Sounds like Alabama DNR is taking advice from Michigan DNR. Those idiots trapped our birds in northern Mi. a few years ago and sent them to southern Mi. to build up the flocks. Well a couple bad winter and there were no birds to be found in the wild turkey capital of Mi. ( Fairview). Well guess what  ? last year they started trapping southern birds and relocating them back up north. Go figure.

Mankind needs to realize that often enough, trying to manipulate the wildlife will have it's unexpected repercussions. Look at what is happening with the timber wolves. Just a short time ago they were bordering extinction according to some studies and wildlife biologists tried re-introducing them into areas where their numbers had dwindled. Under the protective status provided to them by federal law, their populations have exploded and are now causing a lot of inbalances in the ecosystems that had changed because of their absence. Now there is a huge debate on whether or not to allow hunting again to put numbers back into check.

I wonder if anyone had bothered to ask for input from hunters before beginning such costly projects and whether or not if any of those projects would have ever gotten off of the ground if they had.

Everyone by now probably realizes there are no turkeys left in Alabama.   But does anyone know what happened to them.

They migrated to Pennsyltucky.

CASH

A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands, love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper; his hands remember the rifle.
