stone road turkey calls

I have tried to sell a few calls on this site with no luck, i make a great sounding call and it is not a bad looking call, none were are the qualtey of what you guys make. i have not won any contest with them but they have taken a slew of birds. i have been a turkey hunter for 31 years and harvested over 75 turkeys most with my calls, and called many for other hunters. i sell most of my calls from a little bait and tackle shop here in ga about 40 per year. i give away about 20 each year to hunters i meet durning the season, that has created some sales i am not the so called fly by night call maker, i stand behind each call i make and will give a full refund or replacement for any reason. i think i am going to give away about 10 calls on the og and see what happens, mabey they will spread the word good or bad. any feedback welcome.

thanks for listing

Post up some of your calls Gary. Maybe even a few sound files. Good luck with selling your calls.

And when Bingo starts back up maybe you could offer a call or two as a prize.    :anim_25:

I always wondered how many calls are actually sold through these sites.  I always thought these sites are frequented by call makers and I would assume except for 1 in there collection many makers don't buy many calls.

I think if you belong to a hunting site not turkey specific you would have better luck.  Most die hard hunters here know exactly what they want or have it.  There are many non-die hard turkey hunters out there on other sites that may buy when the season draws close.

Gary, First, if you are diligent they will sell, and sell through this site, as so many hunters frequent this one especially closer to season we get. I have sold more calls through OG then I have any place else, I have sold mostly through word of mouth, but once your calls get in the hands of hunters and collectors who stop here, they will pick up in notoriety and will sell, it takes patience..believe me, I am not alone when I say I have sold at least 500 calls for near nothing before I was accepted in the community of callmakers, and the sound of my calls has improved so much over the years, that I am confident to ask certain prices for my calls and being successful in doing so.

This is a great way to start off, being confident in your calls, and willing to go the extra mile to insure they are what you say they are and can do what you say they can do, I would suggest you post some pics, sound bites or whatever would help you get your calls out, offering them for free is ok, but you have to be careful, offering them for the bingo games is a great way to get noticed...pappy

I agree with all of the above and would strongly recommend the posting pictures and if you can some sound bites as well. It would be hard for me to buy a call sight unseen and also to not know how it "should" sound. Hope you get it going and look forward to seeing and hearing your products.

Calls do not have to look good to have a turkey in them... there are a few call makers on this site, that think they can make calls.... they can but thats about it they dont sound like any turkey I have ever heard. :gobble:

listen , you asked for help so I'm going to give you some of the best advice you will ever get on selling calls on the net - not to blow my horn , but Ive dealt with the ins and out of this , and I know what I'm talking about - This is in no specific order so deal with me while I ramble on

Sounds like you know what your doing with the turkey calls because of the length of time making them and your experence in hunting but....how the heck are people going to know how good a makers call sounds? how does a person reach out there and and get peoples attention  -A picture next to some dead turkeys, soundfiles , videos - eventually {not over night} if people buy the calls they will spread the word, and hopefully tell friends, post up some pictures - do not expect overnight success with selling calls it takes time and effort - I want to extend every effort to you that you , and other callmakers out there are welcome to utilize the OG site to the best you can - heck its free !!  :you_rock:     now there are some nice folks out there that kill allot of turkeys , if you get to know them good and you would like their feed back you can work something out with him as far that aspect - I would focus on finding turkey hunters that seem to kill turkeys on a regular basis and avoid folks looking for a handout  - if you want to do a bingo , let me know I do those for free , and when the site starts to get busy in a few weeks you will get plenty of attention from a whole lot of people --

you also need to be ready to sell during spring time , spring is when most calls sell most of the time, in the off season we do have some traffic and calls will sell, but come spring time when we have 100-200 people on the site at any givin  time , and thousands in and out each day ,that when the product moves - this is the off season right now , and even the biggest callmakers have a hard time selling - if you don't believe me look at the large turkey hunting magazines at this time of the year , I've gone through them page for page and counted how many call company advertisements there are.... none.... or next to none... in the off season - large manufactures are not dumb and save up their resources for spring time  - custom calls have taken a real hard hit in the last 3-4 years , expendable income is harder to come by than it was a few years ago

to revisit the subject -Do not give away your calls , the smooch guys will cover you up , grab up your calls and split never to be seen again - there are throngs of these freeloaders out there , I get the complaints from the callmakers about them all the time -

Other than that , any callmaker that makes a good call , " a product that sells itself "   will do very well for themselves here- pull up a chair and hang out post up some pictures tell a few stories { dont worry I wont ask you where you secret spot is} and have a good time , eventually the calls will move , but like turkey hunting it takes patience and it will all come together - Shannon

I just started this call making adventure this past winter/spring! My partner & I were looking at maybe offering  a Christmas special for the holidays to move a few calls you could try that. Like was suggested the only calls i "GIVE" away , I have give mainly to the local turkey killers i know and am really good friends with and let them use them and offer feed back (besides trading for wood and the local NWTF Chapters, which could be another option for you). Hope this helps and I look forward to seeing more of your calls on here. Jason
