Shootings a 300great win mag for deer..yea I know its overkill..generally shoot 200 yards and in.  Currently shooting 180gr accubond ct winchester.

I shot this same set up before and it was devastating...very large exits.  I killed a good buck a week ago and there was blood ...nothing.  I walked up on him luckily.  The entrance and exit were both small.shot behind the shoulder and exited through the off side shoulder..the insides were torn up pretty well though.m

Im not too swift on my gun stuff and ballistic stuff.  For bullet choice on what I've listed, what should
I be shooting? Is my bullet choice off?  I've thought about the 150 gr hornady sst or a soft pointed bullet.  Some of u gun nuts set me straight here and get me set up for maximum destruction.

150 gr ballistic tips can explode at the velocity a win mag can push it. I like the bullet you are shooting. If you want good blood trails shoot them low behind the shoulder. Just my opinion. Bullets that create huge exit wounds may fail at magnum velocity on short range shots. Not a risk I want to take.

Talk to Reloader.  He is very good at that.  I do not know anything about a 300 win mag, too much kick for me, but I promise you he can give you some great information!  Good Luck!
